Alright I created an elementalist/monk about 2 weeks ago and I have way more fun playing as her then I do p[laying as my ranger so.....

Do you think it would be a good idea to give my ranger all elementalist skills as if his main was an elementalist?

No. i think the best would be to play your elementalist if you like it better.

do YOU think its a good idea to try to be an ele on a character with only 3 energy regen, medium energy, no bonus from their primary attribute line, and without the ability to use ele runes?

No, it is a terrible idea. If you try something like that, me, amongst many others would laugh at you. If you want to be an ele, play an ele.

No,just no..it burns my eyes to even look at the idea.

mid level energy,3regen,no primary bonus that has any thing to do with casting...it would be beyond stupid if you did that.
Just play your ele instead of ranger.

If you want to see awesome full-time Elementalistry, role an FC Snares Mesmer in PvP.

people are mostly being sarcastic because your idea is horrible.

In most PvE, it'll probably "work" if you never PUG, but its not something that works well by any stretch of the imagination.

If you dont like rangers, but you do like eles, why are you trying to use ur ranger as an ele? Thats the thing that makes no sense. Does it seem worth it to you?

You know that you could have just used your old, established Elementalist and changed it's secondary profession to Ranger?

It's always advisable for new players to play the professions as intended until they grasp the basics, and understand what is good and what is bad. Then it's safe to "do a Faer", knowing full well that your build will never excel a great deal.

I do quite a bit of solo farming with an R/E that's basically an Ele.

Though I will admit that any Ele can make the build I run work better, mostly due to the ability to rune up.

But thats just one thing there, Ranger + Ele skills really don't mix well. Yeah you go your conjures and a few skills that crack armor that synergize well with body shot, but thats about it.

I remember back 32 months ago as a noob R/E running Aura of Resto and not understanding why I wasnt getting healed when I attacked. But then I got Meteor Shower and it was all better. Not really though.

Thats only really good for farming because a ranger shouldnt be tanking most of the time.

On topic:
I guess you like the Elementalist for its great AoE nuking. Well, don't. In hard mode the Elementalists damage is pathetic. Don't give up your ranger for just that ...

Both chars are actually quite similar. Snares / a support role in hard mode for example.

With the key difference that Splinter/Barrage Rangers or Asuran Scan Rangers can actually deal damage in hard mode.
